Virtual webspace explained
Once you have your domain name registered, at some point
youre going to want to make proper use of it by setting up your own website. This
will have the address www.bogus.co.uk, and you can use it for whatever you see fit
advertise your business, put contact information on it, promote products your
imagination is literally the limit. If you want a few examples of how to use your
webspace, have a browse round the web and pinch ideas
Obviously, it is possible to do all of this using the
webspace that your ISP provides, but this is not really a satisfactory solution you
wont be able to use your registered domain name, and, as with your email address, if
you change ISP your website address would change. This would mean that you would have to
go through the expense and inconvenience of changing your stationary, informing your
customers and resubmitting to search engines. It is also likely that your ISP will impose
limitations on the amount of space you can use, and the bandwidth you take up.
